Competitor hits Vector Sport - race ends in the barrier

Bad luck for the Vector Sport team at the 6-hour race in Monza last weekend: Due to an accident, the team retired before the race was even halfway through.

In a corner, a competitor tried to make a risky overtaking maneuver and drove into the rear wheel of Vector Sport's Oreca LMP2, which was driven by Matthia Kaisers' teammate Gabriel Aubry. He then lost control and hit the barrier. Due to a broken rear suspension, Vector Sport was unable to continue the race.

Despite this, Matthias and his teammates started the race well, lap times were very good and a quick pit stop saved time. "Neither Gabriel nor the entire mechanics team can be blamed for the accident. Everyone put in an excellent performance. So of course we are particularly disappointed. We are now counting on giving our all in Fuji and proving our skills," explains Matthias.

The Oreca will now be repaired by the team in Italy, loaded into a container and transported to Japan. The next race is the 6 Hours of Fuji on September 10.
